Sonja and Sarah visit

Sonja and my friend Sarah from John Carroll came for a visit this weekend. We all had a really great time. We hung out at home and ate great Middle Eastern Food from Mr. Kabob, and then went to the mall. There was a lot of great sale items at the Limited. So I bought some new cute work clothes for myself!! After all I have to make sure I look good when I go back to work ;o) Especially because the last few months of my pregnancy I literally felt like I was wearing the same clothes everyday... maybe because I was! Only 2 pairs of pants would fit me and a few shirts, since I was so HUGE! I didn't want to buy new maternity clothes since I didn't have much time left! My good friend Erin let me borrow all her maternity clothes which was nice. I didn't have to buy too much. I wore those clothes to death! No offense Erin... I am excited to give them back to you today. Near the end of my pregnancy I wanted to burn 'em!

I will post a pic or two from the weekend once Sonja emails them to me. You better send them soon, Son!!! People like to see pictures on this blog!!

I have the feeling that Sonja will take FOREVER to email me some pics, so I will put this pic of Leni as a placeholder, since it is super duper cute. It was taken last weekend.

Pizza and Beer

This last weekend Grandma and Grandpa Vizmeg came to visit again. It was a quick visit, but they babysat Elena while Jason and I met some friends out for pizza and a beer! It felt really good to go out - we felt like we having been out in forever! I even took the time to dress up a bit, which was fun. I would post some pics from the weekend, but for some reason they are not on the camera. I went to download them and nothing was there. I don't really understand what happened.

Mom - Please email me like 1 or 2 good pics from your visit so I can post them on this website. (This is actually a message for Rob, since my mom has no idea how to do this. HA HA)

Love, Mary

Sorry about the lack of posts!

Sorry about the lack of posts everyone!!  We have been very busy with the bottle lately. Just so you all know, things are looking better with the situation!! She takes the bottle occasionally now!  Some days she takes a few bottles. We are so relieved! We thought she would be the only kid in day care that drank out of a sippy cup! HA HA.

Since the last post we had a visit from Aunt Danielle - My good friend from John Carroll. Us girls stayed in and hung out for the most part, but we did go to the mall for a few hours on Saturday, which was really fun. Nordstroms has a mothers room, which is really nice!

We hit another milestone  TODAY - Now Elena will hold the rattle if you place it in her hand! Pretty exciting stuff, I know!!! ;o)  Check out the video I took of the situation this morning. Sorry it is so grainy, but I took it with my camera phone to send to Jason.

Well, I am back to work on March 11th - less then 2 more weeks left!!

This Sunday Elena  had a very special visit from my Teta Vera, Teten Mishe and Sonja! They drove all the way from Hudson to spend the day with Miss Elena!  We dined on a lovely lunch that I made (successfully!!!), looked at old pics from my baby book, and hung out.  Later, Jason and Teten Mishe made a quick stop to the import store to buy 3 pounds of olives! (???)  HA HA

Thank you so much for coming the long way to meet Elena, and thanks for the cute gifts!  Here are some pics from the day....

Hello, Baby Gap!!!! I think we have some models here!

Thank  you Jason for that lovely blog post! After the mall we headed to Jason's sisters house and had a photo shoot with Lila. Both girls had similar outfits on from the GAP.   Don't they look like cozy little elves?

Sorry Lila that you are upsidown in all the pics!

The Mall, excuse me "Collection"

Well, after only a few short weeks of bringing Elena into this world Mary has finally done it - Introduced Elena to THE MALL.

This past Saturday we headed out to Somerset Collection for some shop till you drop fun... and Elena loved it! She appeared cozy and comfortable, especially in the Macy’s shoe section, and enjoyed the smooth ride of the MaxiCosi stroller.

The mall might as well of been a baby day care. There were babies everywhere! Maybe because it was the first warm sunny day we’ve had in months OR maybe as new parents we’re just now noticing all the strollers - but we were surrounded.
(Turns out I'm excellent with the stroller by the way, only tipped once)

Being out in public with Elena for the first time really made being a parent official. Last time I was here I didn’t have little Elena to push around - I was busy wandering around giving off my cool hip vibe that you are all familiar with, acting all mysterious and smooth. But now my message is quite clear - this dude is a dad, and the only mystery now is, what’s in that diaper and where is the bathroom so I can change it?

It’s was super fun being out and about town and seeing Mary so happy as we strolled in and out of the stores.

Mary has created her own little shopping apprentice. Training has officially begun for hunting season...our target: fashionable deals and bargains.

Everyone wins. ; )

We’ll be back.

Bottle Time!

Look.... Ahhh, Lets be clear here... I love Elena. (that’s my Obama Hussein impression)
But I must be honest with you – this bottle feeding routine has yet to become the father/daughter bonding moment I envisioned. We definitely have had our moments and when they do come it is like angels coming down from heaven -but as of late, the angels haven't been doing much fly'n.  I really don’t understand why we aren't connecting?  I want her to eat and I know she’s hungry,  yet when I place the bottle in her mouth no milk is getting in the tummy. In fact, most of it ends up on me.

I’m honestly giving it an A+ effort. I’m Googling tips and tricks, listening to any advice I can get - dimming the lights, putting on soft music, warming the milk, twisting the bottle, tickling it in her mouth, sticking it in my mouth to demonstrate how to do it (jk)....but it’s just not taking. I sense she is going to learn to crawl any day now just so when she sees me coming around the corner with that bottle she can take off and hide.

She even has gotten much better using her hands. She is literally pushing the bottle away from her mouth and I swear, don’t quote me, but I think she gave me the finger last night.

It’s been tough though. I spend all day away from her at work and all I want to do when I come back home is chill out with her.
(and play PS3...jk..kinda) Instead it’s like a title fight. Every feeding ending with both of us crying....and sometimes Mary.

I’m sure tomorrow will be better.
I know you don’t believe me Elena – but I do love you.

Now, who's Hungry?

Super Sunday

Well, Elena's first Super Bowl is being considered by some as the best Super Bowl ever.  It was certainly an exciting battle that came down to the wire. (would of liked of seen a final hail mary, but hey, the officials f'd up)  It had all the drama, half-time show and the commercials you hope for in Super Bowl.  Our friends Roger and Matt came over along with Grandpa Dale to enjoy the show.   Grandpa Dale, a longtime member of Steeler nation, came dressed in black and gold.  Mary countered with Elena in full Browns gear, a Quinn jersey complements of Uncle Rob.
As a Lions fan (/Steelers fan)  I stayed quietly unbiased.
Congratulations Steelers!

Did you know Kurt Warner used to bag groceries?

Lions 2010!!! or BROWNIES 2010!

ROB AND SUZY VISIT

Uncle Rob and his girlfriend Suzy came into town this weekend for a visit.  We spent most of the time around the house goo goo and ga gaing at Elena.  The boys did manage to sneak out for some gaming pleasure and the girls were able to hit the mall for a couple hours.  In the evening Grandma came over to babysit Elena so we could double date at RedCoat Tavern, a favorite local burger joint.   (Elena was a little fussy during the day but did manage to sleep through the night, midnight to 7:30 - pretty darn good!  We all appreciated it)

GREAT HAVING YOU IN TOWN!!!
Love and miss you guys...

BABA BISTRA

All is well in Detroit - I was feeling pretty sick last week, but Baba Bistra was able to come in to town to help me out.  She was home herself because of her bad foot.  Thanks, mom!!!

Life is a Jungle

Today I introduced Elena to the Jungle playyard - She loved it!! She was looking around at all the animals in awe.

She even caught a glimpse of the cutest animal in the jungle... herself! She laid there staring and smiling at herself - Just like daddy ;o) Just kidding.

Koney like the play yard too. It took a lot of "No Koneys" to help her realize that the toys attached to the yard were not hers! I think she is jealous of all of Elena's new toys. Maybe I will buy her a little something next time I am out of the house.

WEDNESDAY

Today Elena ate, slept, cried and pooped... a lot.

Looking forward to see what surprises tomorrow brings.

Reading Is Important

Have you seen this "Your Baby Can Read" infomercial? We are so sold. It is crazy watching these little bald babies read (while still drooling) We are so close to handing over the $200 bucks. We almost feel like irresponsible parents if we don't. We really want Elena to eventually learn how to read, and I'm sure reading a couple months before the other kids will give her a huge advantage in life. We should get it....knowing Elena, she'll be reading and talking by the end of the month.

Sounds crazy, but we think we heard her say "Koney No" last night! Maybe she'll say it again today.

Even if we don't pay the $200 for "Your Baby Can Read"...we figured what's the harm in starting her off early anyways.

TGIF!!

It's friday night!!! What should we do tonight??? Oh yeah.... NOTHING. HA HA

Well, maybe more laundry... this baby spits up on everything!

Sleepy Wrap

My sleepy wrap came yesterday!!!! A sleepy wrap is a fabric baby carrier. A friend of mine let me borrow hers for a while to see if I liked it. I loved it! I can't imagine not having it. It makes doing stuff around the house so much easier, you wouldn't believe! I just wear Elena and do everything, and best of all it is so comfortable! If you want to see what I am talking about then just see the link here: www.sleepywrap.com (you may need to type it in, I don't know how to hyperlink on this blog yet)

Best of all it was pretty affordable!

First day as a stay at home mom

Well, today was my first day as a stay at home mom. I must say I was quite nervous. Jason was back at work today, I was on my own. We had our 1 month doctor's appointment this morning at 11 am. Elena now weighs 8 lbs 12 oz and her length is in the 75 percentile. Everything is normal and healthy!

I did laundry and made an awesome dinner. I found the recipes on Food Network.

I am finally becoming the dream wife that Jason thought he married!! ;o)

BATH TIME!

Elena's First Bath:

We have all the cool bath toys and gadgets for a pleasant and joyous bath time  - but I assure you, Elena did NOT think it was one bit enjoyable.  I'm sure she will get used to the water eventually... who doesn't love a nice hot bubble bath.   Mission accomplished however - she's now clean and yes, still maintains that new born baby smell.  Hopefully it goes better tomorrow.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

It was a peaceful and sober new years eve at the Dale House this year -  Actually quite nice for a change.
 (
Change I guess we should get real comfortable with)  Grandpa Dale came over with some Filets and we cooked up a delicious New Years dinner and then Dick Clark's Rock'n Eve brought us into 2009.  To be honest,  we barely made it to midnight.  2008 was a busy, exciting year for us  - we expect nothing less in 2009.  BRING IT ON!  Happy New Year!

Here is a quick tour of Elena's Bedroom... check it out!

Elena and Koney

Koney and Elena are becoming best of friends.  Right now Koney takes care of Elena, soon enough Elena will be taking care of Koney.  BFF's Forever.

BABY 1st CHRISTMAS!!!

What did you say about my hat?

Elena's 1st Christmas !

It was such an exciting time of year to have a baby.  (we felt borderline abusive however with all the pictures of Elena..she just looked so darn cute!)

It was super fun having so many friends and family available to come by and meet Elena.
We had a little christmas party/gathering with friends which was a blast, we hosted Christmas with Jason's side of the family on Christmas Eve and we celebrated Christmas with Mary's side Christmas Day.  Just a perfect holiday.  Best Christmas Ever.

BABY DR.

Elena's First Dr. Appointment.   We met our Dr. a few times at the hospital and so far we love her.  It's an overall great situation for us:  the Dr.'s office is just 5 minutes away, other friends and family go to this office and love it and Jason's aunt works there -  All nice "bonuses" that bring us additional comfort as new parents.  We are so blessed and happy to have ourselves a healthy baby!

Welcome Home Elena!

It's nice to be back home.  So crazy to think we left just 3 days ago and now we're back with a baby. We (along with everyone) were so curious to see how Koney Dog would react to our new little addition.  To no surprise she was great.  Koney was quite curious at first at the new smells and noises in the house,  but after just a few hours Koney came to the conclusion Elena was pretty boring and went on her way... sleeping.

We gave Elena the house tour - specific to her room and crib.  She appeared quite satisfied with the arrangement. We then happily relaxed and cozied up around the fire and Christmas Tree... exhausted but alert as to what surprises our first night at home as mom and dad shall bring...

HEADING HOME!

WE'RE GOING HOME ! -  FIRST CAR RIDE - She looked so tiny in the car seat and so so cute in her pink winter hat.  Luckily we live close to the hospital,  cause dad was a nervous driver...  BABY ON BOARD!
